Defibrillator
There are two defibrillators in the Parish.
One is located on the front wall of the Charles Willis village hall on Church Road, Heddington next door to the school. The second in next to the phone box at Stockley.
If you come across someone who is not breathing or breathing erratically, the most important thing is to call 999 and start CPR to keep the blood flowing around the body. After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces someone’s chance of survival by 10%. See Is It A Heart Attack or a Cardiac Arrest?
If you’re on your own, don’t interrupt the CPR to go and get the defibrillator. If it’s possible, send someone else to obtain it.
To access the defibrillator:
- Call the Emergency Services on 999
- Say there is a medical emergency and you need to use the local defibrillator
- You will be asked for the location, state “Heddington, postcode SN11 0PH“ or “Stockley”
- The operator will confirm where the defibrillator is located.
- The operator will give you the code to open the box and talk you through the procedure for its use
Do not attempt to open the box until told to do so by a medical professional
